Hi Rob, I was interested to hear today that a man was arrested in the valley for impersonating a police officer. I am so glad that we have the correct law on the books now and very thankful for the support that I received from you and the other PSEA members in passing that bill.

    Business Agent’s Update July 20, 2011 Southeast Business Agent’s Report DPS Contract Issues: Pay issues continue but seemed to have slowed down since mid-2010. Most of the NOPP’s have already been addressed and resolved by the time they are received by PSEA. There are two outstanding pay grievances and one is moving toward arbitration and the other will be addressed by the grievance review committee.

    Business Agent’s Update June 16, 2011 SUMMARY OF DOT DISCIPLINE AND GRIEVANCES Since January of 2010, the Department of Transportation has issued approximately four warnings and three reprimands. Written warnings and reprimands are not subject to the grievance process under the contract, but they may be reviewed through the chain of command, and members may submit written rebuttals to the letters. Business agents can assist members with requesting reviews of warnings and reprimands, and drafting rebuttals.

    Executive Director’s Update August 23, 2011 July turned out to be a productive and positive month for PSEA. FAIRBANKS CITY COUNCIL APPROVES NEW CONTRACT FOR FAIRBANKS POLICE DEPARTMENT After almost 4 years of negotiation, arbitration and delay, the City of Fairbanks City Council approved a new collective bargaining agreement for our Fairbanks Police Department members. The struggle resulted highlights of the agreement are that our membership gets a 6% raise for this year, and the City’s portion of health insurance costs goes up by $150 a month.
